The Cartoon Art Museum (abbreviated as CAM) is a cartoon and comics museum in the Fisherman’s Wharf neighborhood of San Francisco. Here are some of the things you can do at this museum:
- Learn about the many variants of cartoons. The museum’s extensive collection includes comic books, graphic novels, comic strips, and other forms of cartoons. CAM is the only cartoon and comics museum of the Western United States; anybody can find something exciting and interesting.
- Visit many temporary events. CAM regularly hosts various exhibitions and showcases dedicated to the art of cartoons. Currently available events include I Left My Art in San Francisco, A Treasury of Animation, The Batman Armory, and several others.
- Take part in fascinating workshops. You can schedule a workshop session or several using the form on the official website. The choice of topics and time of the workshop is up to you. Reservations must be made at least two weeks ahead of your visit.
You can reach CAM by bus, tram, bike, or on foot. Hyde St & Beach St is the nearest tram stop to this museum on the Powell/Hyde Cable Car Line. From there, walk for two minutes along Beach Street toward Fort Mason.

Adult tickets cost $10; students and seniors with valid IDs only need to pay $7. Tickets for children from 6 to 12 cost $3; children under 5 can visit the museum for free. Also, you can pay anything for the ticket on the first Tuesday of every month.
