The Amsterdam Museum gives visitors a fantastic overview of almost five centuries of Amsterdam's history. You can see a wide range of meaningful artifacts, from a medieval statue of Mary and Jesus, whose faces were scratched off during the iconoclastic fury, to the wedding rings of the world's first gay wedding.

The Amsterdam Museum is a museum of history and art, and its collection includes impressive art pieces from different periods. You can admire the Bird's eye view of Amsterdam, painted in 1538, and civic guard portraits from the Golden Age, as well as examples of modern street art and other works by contemporary visual artists.
Due to a large-scale renovation of its main location, the Amsterdam Museum has a temporary home in the Hermitage Amsterdam's museum building on the Amstel river at Amstel 51. It is a 2-minute walk from the Waterlooplein subway station, served by lines 51, 53, and 54, and the light rail stop, served by line 14.
There is also a public jetty in front of the museum building. You can get to the museum by boat, admiring the city views from the water.

General admission to the Amsterdam Museum at the Amstel is €18 for adults and €10 for students and CJP Pass holders. Entry is free for children and holders of the following passes: Museumkaart, VriendenLoterij VIP-Kaart, ICOM-card, Stadspas, and I Amsterdam City Card.
