Галерея Уффици: вопросы и ответы

The gallery is open for visitors from Tuesday to Sunday; its opening hours are 8:15 AM to 6:30 PM.

This museum is open throughout the year, but we recommend going there in autumn or winter, when there are fewer tourists around. For the same reason, we recommend visiting the gallery on weekdays, early in the morning, or after 4:00 PM.

The Uffizi Gallery is one of the most famous and revered museums in Italy and worldwide. So, what makes it special?

  • It hosts a gigantic collection of Western art. From ancient Roman statues to the great works of masters of the Renaissance and beyond, the Uffizi Gallery has something for everyone. The highlights of the gallery’s collection are the works of the great Italian artists of the Renaissance: Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, Raphael’s Woman with a Veil, Titian’s The Penitent Magdalene – all these masterpieces and more are the core of the museum’s collection.
  • The gallery’s building is a magnificent example of Italian architecture of the 16th century. It's a daring and innovative design by Giorgio Vasari that also draws inspiration from the Classical Era. This palace initially served as the offices of Florence's magistrates and a gallery space for the powerful Medici family. Over time, more and more rooms became exposition spaces, and the palace officially became a museum in 1865.
  • The gallery regularly hosts temporary events. These exhibitions often display works of art on loan from other museums; they are a perfect opportunity to see more from the beautiful world of art.

You can find this gallery at the heart of Florence, next to Piazza della Signoria. The gallery sits between the river Arno and Palazzo Vecchio; you can also see Ponte Vecchio nearby. You can easily reach the Uffizi Gallery by train, bus, or on foot. For example, there is a shuttle bus from the Amerigo Vespucci airport to the Santa Maria Novella train station. From there, the museum is just a 10-minutes walk away from the station.

Regular tickets cost €12. Children under 18 can enter freely. Additionally, you can book a ticket for a specific time slot on the official website. In that case, the ticket costs only €4.
